Aglaia: Wife of Karagiozis
During Fall of 2018 I was an artist-in-residence at The Lakkos Project in Heraklion, Crete. In preparation for doing an urban street art project, I researched the history of Greek shadow puppet theatre and learned of the humorous and unseemly character - Karagiozis (black eye in Turkish). I also discovered that his wife -- Aglaia -- was rarely seen and usually just heard nagging off-stage. Aglaia has now come out of the shadows and into the light. Viva Aglaia!
